"I believe that the “explosion” will actually come in the form of a general inability/unwillingness to communicate. We’re most of the way there. The internet has given each of us, no matter how infinitely otaku, the ability to find the one single other human on the planet who shares 100% of our specific interests, and confuses us into believing that this is somehow a “community” (it isn’t). We already see this in politics, to our great detriment."
