At The Drive-in have a song named Napoleon Solo, and in my wonderful and generally ignorant style, I haven't seen Man From U.N.C.L.E., and so assumed it was one of Cedric Bixler's trademark word salads - but no! He's a character, and created by Ian Fleming no less.

James Bond, famously, was named after the author of a book on birdwatching, Fleming looking for the most nondescript name he could find. Based on this slice of awesome toast, I can see why he had to crib from his bookshelves.

I'm gonna go ahead an throw my vote behind Hanoi Jane on this one, which brings me to my point: how would these results differ from a sampling of us non-librarians, and are they in any way telling? Where's my control, dammit?

Based on my livejournal profile interests list I am the only person on LJ who is into tolerating America and volksgeist. Two not entirely unrelated interests of mine, and perhaps, it seems, the secret of my uniqueness. I'm also the only person listing 'author cults', which isn't.
