Your sacred predictions
Oct. 14th, 2010 05:40 amIt's important to know how the world works, and the number of variables in play make that very difficult. As an example, I bought a Concise Oxford English dictionary back in June, because I realised that I was living in a house that didn't have one and, when it comes to dictionaries, you should accept no substitute; my failure to understand the world came out in the fact that when I was in Bolton WH Smiths in August, in order to encourage parents to buy it for their little darlings in time for the school year, they were selling the 25 quid Concise for £6. You see, I'm made economically irresponsible by short-term thinking, lack of proper projections, and culture-driven consumerist impulses. Clearly, I shouldn't be allowed metal cutlery, never mind access to bank loans, motor vehicles, and the vote.
Edit: furthermore, I completely goddamn forgot that Cat People was on tonight, despite making a big deal of the fact that I wanted to watch it and immediately learning it was on later.
