WRONG!
Look around, the pace of change is horrendously fast, barely five years passes where something radical doesn't occur and we step out from the old into the new every second of every day.

Don't try and narrativise history in an age without big narratives, and don't try and make an electric board game sound like King of Kings, you just come off like a cod epic tossface. Also Civilization is rubbish - I suspect Tropico 3 is where the money is, and it's only a fiver off Steam at the moment.
Not that I want to play that particularly either, I'm not feeling very managerial at my time of life.
Edit: On further consultation with a panel of eggheads I've changed my mind, I guess the accelerating pace of change is sort of the gameplay curve in Civ. It's still a stupid trailer though. I much prefer cartoon dictatorships in my trailers.
