Woke up this morning with an unaccountable urge to buy and read a copy of the Prose Edda of Snorri Sturluson. If I had to guess at why, I'd posit that it's because it's one of the oldest, inherently science-fiction texts extent in the world. With Odin!
Looky here, ancient high tech wotsimajiggers come to Northern Europe and are worshipped as gods because they have the best stuff? Sounds like many a B-grade SF, Jacques Valee-ish load of old goats cheese to me.
And I really do love me some Odin.
