Tales from the Grave in Space
Dec. 23rd, 2012 12:59 pmToday's project will be to download the Amiga Forever software, as available here, and emulate the computer of my youth. Had I grown up in an environment conducive to self esteem it's this computer and the many hours I spent making animations in Deluxe Paint II and IV which would have pushed me down a creative path when all my friends who were playing Nintendo gained nothing but the ability to speed run Super Mario Brothers. As it actually transpired all my friends went into the creative industries and I work in an office. Anyway, a very fine machine and came with the simplest and most user friendly animation software imaginable and had sound and visual standards streets ahead of the equivalent priced PCs of the day. Knowing that I lack entirely the enthusiast's devotion this project will be a brief one.
Oddities
Increasingly I'm getting dissatisfied with tabbed browsing as a way of using the web and am starting to pop certain things out into windows, essentially regressing the UI for the web by about ten years. Not sure why, but I think it has something to do with how modern transparent overlays make this possible and my own inherently chaotic way of dealing with the world.
