I think the modern version might actually be a great adaptation of the original - it shares the bizarre and illogical character motivations and contrived plotting. The main difference is that in the new films everyone is always running away from explosions.
I read a thing that nominated Shatner as someone who has pectus excavatum. And it's possible, looking at him in his thirties. All those jibes about his girdle... I think he might actually be a mutant.
One person I know who has a funnel chest is Grace Park. She hasn't let that bother her though, she's always half naked.
