The rehabilitation of hipsters has already started. Fuhserious. Like three months ago.
Scott Pilgrim and the hipster-geek divide.
Amirite?
And for me, self-identification as being any part of geek became uneasy about 2 years ago, and entirely odious in the last twelve months. Me, I have to be a force of one because I don't have any friends, but I can feel the way the wind is blowing. It's not just because I'm over 25 neither.
And wow, that Lydia Lunch/Nien Nunb remark really makes me want to watch the Venture Bros. (yes I know who they are, LL did a record with Omar Rodriguez and I'm someone who is currently re-imagining Star Wars, BSG style, in his head for a laugh, so of course I know Lando's little mate.)
I totally bought the definitive DVD edition of Conan the Barbarian for 3 quid and a copy of The Hidden Fortress too. The place that Hidden Fortress has in the lineage of Star Wars is not a coincidence with regards to this purchase. I love hobbies.
This week my main, in particular, hobby has been astronomy. I can name all the brightest objects in the northern sky now. It's of particular interest to learn that the like, first, beginner's most elementary star is Capella, which turns out not to be a star at all, but a double binary. Four stars in one. Excelsior!
How bout them students eh? How bout them boneheaded Tory defence strategies? What a glorious time to be British.
